The North Adriatic Sea Port Authority (NASPA) has been working to achieve sustainable development, according to the Three-Year Operational Plan 2018-2020 and the environmental policy objectives in compliance with ISO 14001,  in line with the European Green Deal Agenda but also with the 10 environmental priorities of the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO), notably the energy transitions in ports.

Following the Stakeholders Round Tables meetings, set up in 2019 for the joint definition of priorities included in the SUPAIR Action Plan, 10 port operators of Venice asked the Port Authority to further analyse international best practices on port operations reduction of Co2 emissions and the possible models to replicate in the lagoon port.

E&Y Advisory Group was selected and based on an in-depth “as-is” analysis of the Venetian port operations, with extensive interviews with terminals’ top management staff, along with international best practices selection, has presented the results with a closed-door webinar with the involved operators, due to the CoVID-19 restrictions.

Thanks to the benchmark activity, a series of best practices have been identified at international level concerning measures and interventions to make port operations in the ports of Venice and Chioggia more sustainable and energy efficient.
